During the Rome Film Festival, on Saturday, October 20, at the Bernini Hotel, the ninth Capital Regions for Cinema coproduction meeting took place as part of "Business Street." The Rome and Lazio Film Commission, with representatives of the film commissions of Paris-Ile de France, Madrid Film Commission and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, welcomed more than 60 European producers to discuss coproduction projects.
The producers arrived at the meeting with projects that were already in the works and representing accredited production companies. This made it possible for the meetings to discuss concrete possibilities for specific projects.
Viviane Reding, European Commissioner for Information Society and Media granted European sponsorship to the Capital Regions for Cinema, the network of film commissions of the capital regions Rome-Lazio, Berlin-Brandenburg, Paris-Ile de France and Madrid- Comunidad de Madrid, coproduction meetings. The size and European spirit of the network were thus recognized and strengthened by this important sponsorship, which followed the presentation of the CRC network to the European parliament in Strasbourg last April 25, thanks to the efforts of the Lazio Region Office of Culture representative Giulia Rodano and the support of FILAS.
The European Capital Regions for Cinema network was founded in 2005 to promote European coproduction and to combine the resources and creative potential of European capital areas. It organizes meetings for movie producers in search of coproduction partners at major film festivals in Cannes, Berlin, San Sebastian and Rome.
The coproduction meetings will take place on Saturday, October 20, on the Krug Terrace at the Bernini Hotel and will make it possible for more than 60 European producers looking for coproduction deals to present their projects. The meetings will take place with other activities of the Rome and Lazio Film Commission at the Film Festival:
Meetings and initiatives in support of the movie industry and Italian producers will take place at the booth.
Resulting from an agreement between FILAS and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry signed last March in Mumbai, the meetings will be organized with the support of the Film Commission as part of the Focus India initiative.
The location tour will show Indian producers and directors in Rome resources and locations in Rome and Lazio.
The new headquarters of the Rome and Lazio Film Commission is at 18 Via Virgilio, 00193 Rome, tel. +39 06 6841 1700, fax +39 06 6893 077.
